We tend to always overlook the small things in life. They’re so small that we don’t even think about how important they truly are. And I don’t mean that tiny spider that was crawling around my room last Monday. I most certainly did not overlook him. Okay, I lost my train of thought for moment. Focus. What was I saying again? Oh right, overlooking small things.
It’s the things we take for granted that we miss the most the moment we lose them. (A quick tip that has nothing to do with this post. Nothing is lost until your mother can’t find it.) This Thursday I’m thankful for… Can you guess it yet? Yeah, you got it. I’m thankful for the small things we take for granted.
Think about it for a moment. Think about all the things we take for granted. What would we do if we didn’t have toothpaste? We would always be walking around with morning breath, only then it would just be called day breath. No fresh minty breath, but you breath will smell like someone died inside your mouth and they can’t find the body, so it’s been rotting in there for months. AND! You would be walking around with so many cavities, that your teeth would just start falling out.
Or what would we do if we didn’t have scissors? We would never be able to open those impossible to open packages. All hairdressers would be without a job. Our nails would just keep growing until we won’t be able to move our hands and feet. (I just realized you could probably use a knife, but what if we didn’t have knifes, either? Then what?)
And what if we didn’t have mirrors? We would never be able to see ourselves. Your perfect face and beautiful smile, you would never be able to see it. Everyone around you could enjoy all your perfectness, everyone but you!
Ever thought what the world would be like without the alphabet? No letters, no books, no Shakespeare, no Homerus, no Jane Austen, no Fairy tales, no Harry Potter, no Fifty Shades of Grey (although, I think that wouldn’t be too bad).
And what if we didn’t have light? We would always be in the dark.
No cameras, means no Instagram pictures of your food or that picture of your Duck-Face. No picture after your work-out just to prove to your friends you went to the gym.
No bottle openers, means no drinks, no alcohol. People always sober. (Could you imagine?)
And what if we didn’t have any oxygen? We would all be dead right now! I wouldn’t even be able to write this post. You wouldn’t be able to read it. That means this post doesn’t even exists.
I know I kinda derailed a little. Once my brain starts going, there is no way of turning it off. I just have to go with it. Maybe it’s time to stop.
So, thank you toothpaste for protecting my teeth; Thank you scissors for being so cut-edge; Thank you mirrors for always smiling back at me; Thank you alphabet for making up new words; Thank you light for making everything clear; Thank you cameras for putting everything in perspective; Thank you bottle openers for popping every lid and thank you oxygen for taking my breath away.
You probably thought I was going to write this very deep and touching post about all the people we take for granted in our life. That I was going to write about all the small things people did for me and I never thanked them for. Nope, no way. That’s not how this blog works.
Have a nice Thursday.
