MoodyMonday #14

Mood: Feeling like an eight year old.

For everyone out there that doesn’t know, the FIFA women’s World Cup is happening right now. For the people who still don’t know what that means, it’s the World Cup for female soccer. You already know my family is pretty obsessed with soccer. Remember that story (it’s right here if you haven’t read it yet)…
The World Cup is in Canada and I’m in the Netherlands. That means that the games are on in the middle of the night and we have to stay up to watch them. But because me and my sister are diehards, we set our alarm clocks and get our butts out of bed.
Yesterday, we thought it would be a fun idea to go outside and play some soccer ourselves. A 20 year old and a 25 year old decided to go outside and play soccer. We used to do this all the time when we were kids. We have this horrible grass field that looks more like a sand field where all the kids in the neighborhood go to play. Luckily, no one else was there. That would have been really embarrassing.
So, we played some soccer. I hadn’t played in a while, but after 10 minutes I felt like a pro and got cocky. I shot the ball way too hard and way too high… And because anything that can go wrong will go wrong, it landed in these thick overgrown bushes.

Not actual bushes, but pretty close!

Not actual bushes, but pretty close!

At first I thought we would be able to get it out easily, but I was so wrong. We spend the next 30 minutes fighting our way into these bushes trying to get to our ball. Thank God the thing is orange. We spend the first 20 minutes trying to figure out where it went and when my sister finally yelled that she saw something orange, we were so happy. But it took us another 10 minutes to actually get to the ball. In the end I was lying on hundreds of branches and I believe a fence, when I could finally reach the ball. I don’t even want to know how many spider families we killed by doing all this!

Right now we are both covered in cuts and bruises and probably won’t be playing any soccer any time soon! But to be honest, it truly was an amazing day! My sister and I haven’t had this much fun in a long time. We felt like little kids, but sometimes we have to let our inner child have some fun! It’ll make your older self feel better.

Have a nice Monday.
