MainMonday #1

We’ve had two FavoritesFridays and one TopTuesday, but this month it’s MainMonday. At the end of every month I list all my favorites of the month. It’s just a fun way to share all the new things I’ve discovered this month.

And since time just flies by, here are my main choices for August:
Music
What is life without music?!? This month’s song is a good one. It’s been stuck in my head for about a week now. WARNING! This song will get stuck in your head as well. So, if you don’t want to sing the Oreo song for the rest of the week, I won’t blame you if you don’t listen to it.

It’s just fun and weird. I mean, I don’t even like Oreos. I kinda hate them actually.

Books
I’ve said it time and time again, I LOVE reading. This month I read this fun and amazing book by Graeme Simsion, the Rosie Project. This book made me laugh out loud and that doesn’t happen that often when I read books.
It’s a tale about a guy who is unable to fall in love and creates this test to find his perfect wife. In the process he comes to realize that no one is perfect and that just maybe he is the most perfectly imperfect human-being of them all.
“Do you find me attractive?”
“I haven’t really noticed.” I told the most beautiful woman in the world.
God, I love this book!

Six-word Story
You’re probably sick of all my six-word stories, but I don’t care. Here’s another one. This one is by Margaret Atwood.
“Starlet sex scandal. Giant squid involved.”
I don’t even want to know…

Food
We all need to eat. It’s just the way it is. We eat, we get fat, we exercise, we eat again. It’s just the circle of life. This month I had this amazing Fish and Chips on my trip to Dublin. Those Irish people really know good food. It was amazing!

Art
I only add the art to seem cultured. This moth it’s a piece by Leonid Afremov, Colors of my Past. I just love the colors in this one.

Joke
We all need to have a good laugh once in a while. Here’s this month’s joke.
Q: How do cows do mathematics?
A: They use a cow-culator.
It´s so pathetic it´s funny.

Quote
I always love a good inspiring quote.
“The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.”
– Walter Bagehot

And last but not least.

Post
I get inspired by all the amazing people here on WordPress. So every month I also include my favorite post of the month. It can be funny, it can be empowering or inspiring. This month it’s this fun post by RubyandGinger. Pleasy do read it, I promise it’ll be worth it.

FictionFriday #13

For the people who have never read my FictionFridays before, these posts are about inspiration. As someone who blogs every weekday inspiration can be hard to find sometimes. This post is about finding inspiration in the weirdest of places. Inspiration has this way of sneaking up on you. You might not be looking for it, but inspiration doesn’t care. She’ll jump you from behind and mess up the rest of your day, because now you’re stuck with this idea in your head and keep thinking about it until you’ve written it all down.
This week I was inspired by… Well, to be completely honest, I wasn’t. This is what happens when I write without inspiration.

The void
brain

Crazy thoughts floating through my head
Why do birds chirp?
Why can’t curtains stop all the sunlight?
Why does that cloud look like a boxing kangaroo?

The one voice that can never be silenced
Does that man know I’m looking at him?
Does that fly know it’s annoying me?
Does that fly know it’s about to die?

That one voice that always tells the truth
She looks fat in that dress
Your voice is annoying me, please stop talking
You’re wasting my time

Even at night, still talking…
You made a complete fool of yourself
Everybody was looking at you
If the universe is infinite and our planet is just this little spot in this big universe and I’m an even smaller spot on earth, then maybe it doesn’t matter that you fell on your face at the train station?

PLEASE, STOP, I scream into the void of my mind.
Nobody is listening.

Have a nice Friday.

Thought-of-the-day-Thursday #7

Today, I had this thought…

I was thinking about the origin of language. Don’t we all sometimes. And in my very weird and crazy head I came up with this scenario.
For some reason I felt very certain that it was a man that spoke for the first time. We all know that men only care about one thing, getting laid. So, many many years ago, there was this caveman who found himself a pretty lady, but she wasn’t responding to his sensual and animal grunts. He had to try something else. He walked up to her, gave her a pretty smile and not only spoke the first words, he also used the first ever pick-up line.
“My heart’s on fire.”

To which the pretty lady replied: “Why?”
“You struck me with your lightning.”

Do you get it? Lightning and fire!
That’s how historians think the first fire was created, by lightning hitting a tree. Oh, never mind. You get it.

Have a nice Thursday.

WhateverWednesday #17

I can’t wait to have kids.

I mean, I’m only 20 years old, so I’m in no hurry.
The thing is, I really want my hypothetical kids to get to that age that they start asking questions. Well, one particular question. I can’t wait until my kids ask me where babies come from…

I’m just going to run to the grocery store, buy myself a big-ass melon, run back home, get a needle and give the needle and the melon to my kids. Then all I’ll say is: “Get that melon through the eye of the needle without damaging it and I’ll tell you.”
Then I’ll just walk away slowly.

I’m going to be the best and coolest mom ever and my hypothetical kids will hate me for it! I can’t wait.

But, whatever.

Have a nice Wednesday.

Talking-to-you-Tuesday #1

This post is just me talking to you. Just letting you know that you’re not alone. I’m right here.
We all have those days we just need someone to give us a hug. I wish I could go to all your houses and give you a well-deserved hug (and not in a creepy, stalker way). Maybe we can try a cyber-hug. Just wrap your arms around your computer, laptop, tablet, phone and I’ll do the same. Look! We’re hugging. Do you feel better yet? No, then maybe these words will help.
You are beautiful.
Your hair looks perfect today.
You have a pretty smile.
Nobody cares about that pimple.
You are smart.
You are talented.
I believe in you.
You can do whatever you want to do.
Don’t ever change.
You are loved.
You deserve to be happy.

I know we have never met. I know I don’t know anything about you. I know these words won’t change things. You might still feel sad. You might still feel alone. I just hope, that just for a second, you felt better. I just hope, that just for a moment, you believed all of it. Sometimes all we need is a little push, a little reminder, that we are important. That we matter.

This post is just me talking to you. Just letting you know that you’re not alone. I’m right here. I’m listening.

Have a nice Tuesday.

MoodyMonday #23

Mood: Rain with a chance of sunshine
2

I swear, just a second ago, rain was pouring down from the sky. I don’t mean a pathetic hey-look-at-me-I’m-a-light-drizzle rain. No, I mean a full on I-just-watched-every-death-scene-in-Grey’s-Anatomy-and-can’t-stop-crying rain. Honest to God, people were drowning outside and right now the sky is all clear and the sun is shining. The sun was all like: Just kidding, I had a minor breakdown and now everything is fine.
I really don’t know where this post is going. I just thought I would share this with you. I haven’t been outside much lately. I should probably go outside, though. Get some fresh oxygen inside my lungs, instead of this air in my room I’ve been breathing for the past week.
I’m going to stop now, because this post isn’t going anywhere (just like me).

Have a nice Monday.

FictionFriday #12

For the people who have never read my FictionFridays before, these posts are about inspiration. As someone who blogs every weekday inspiration can be hard to find sometimes. This post is about finding inspiration in the weirdest of places. Inspiration has this way of sneaking up on you. You might not be looking for it, but inspiration doesn’t care. This week I was inspired by all the amazing people in Dublin. (You saw that one coming, didn’t you?)

Traffic lights
lights-1

Red or green?
What does it matter?
I have places to be.
People to meet.

Time is money…!
And money is time.
Every second spend waiting,
Is a second wasted.

I can’t look back.
I just keep moving forward.
I don’t stop.
Not even for a traffic light.

Red or green?
What does it matter?
I have places t…

Why didn’t that car stop

Have a nice Friday.
