ShortSunday #7

Sometimes fear can be crippling
That voice in your head preparing for the worst
Telling you to stop
It’s like Murphy said:
Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong
Sometimes it feels impossible to stay in the moment
When my head is already five steps ahead
I decided to do more things that scare me
To take more risks
The voice is just really making it difficult
To move forward
I just keep telling myself:
Even if everything goes wrong, I will survive
I will still be here
In the moment
I will be able to say:
I did it
I faced my fear
I’m still here
I survived

WordWednesday #14

Are you ready? Let’s do this. Here’s how it works: No plan. No ideas. Just words!

A rose
Two lives
One love

I hope you like these words.

Have a nice Wednesday.

MailMonday #1

Dear woman behind the helpdesk in the Ikea,

I understand that working for the Ikea probably wasn’t your dream job. You probably dreamed of being an astronaut, or a hair dresser, or a spy, or maybe you dreamed of being a unicorn. I don’t know. But I do know that working behind that desk is the last thing that you thought you would be doing.

Yet, here you are. And here I am. We were destined to meet. Me, just trying to return a damaged item. You working to earn a living. (No, this is not going to be a love story!!!)

I also get that I’m just another customer. You don’t care. You just want this day to end. You’re probably tired. I get it! I really do. I don’t expect you to act all happy and cheerful. I don’t expect a big smile and applause when I walk up to the desk. Nor do I expect sunshine to shoot out of your ass. But I do expect you to treat me like a normal human being. I do expect you to show some decency and to actually greet me when I kindly say hallo. I get that your day probably sucked and we all have days that we just want to punch something, but I was really trying. I was trying to keep it short and to be kind. I was trying to make your day a little easier. It would have been nice if you tried too.

It turned out the item wasn’t damaged, I know, I’m just an idiot. I’m really sorry. However, this is still no reason to shove the item back into my hands and loudly shout next.

I don’t know why I even bothered saying goodbye. Because quite honestly, you just totally ruined my pretty decent day.

I really hope you guys have a better Monday!

FictionFriday #21

FictionFridays are all about finding inspiration in the craziest of places. This Friday I was inspired by reading.

When I Read
A word,
nothing more than a combination of letters,
a combination of signs,
put together,
turns into sound
once read.

In our head we can hear it,
it comes alive.

The voice of an old man
talking about a memory long lost.

The whisper of a woman
afraid to speak out loud.

The laugh of a queen
after a war won.

The cry of a father
who lost a son.

The shout of a soldier
trying to protect a friend.

They come alive.

The echo lingers in our head
hits the walls of your skull.

And remains

Have a nice Friday.

Talking-to-you-Tuesday #2

Every once in a while I like to write a post especially for you. So, I hope you like it. This one is for you.

Not alone
Your smile can destroy sadness
Your touch restores youth
Your heart heals loneliness
And your eyes see only truth

You are a force of nature
You speak without fear
You may feel like a stranger
But you are not alone, my dear

Because with every smile and every touch you share
My heart skips a beat and my eyes see only love
Know that I will always be there
I just hope that is enough

Have a nice Tuesday

SpecialSaturday #3

A world beyond ignorance

Ignorance: a lack of knowledge, understanding, or information about something

It somehow sounds like ignorance is a condition that we are unaware of. It’s accidental. Being ignorant is no one’s fault.

I say bullshit.

Ignorance isn’t bliss, it is dangerous. You see, ignorance isn’t passive, it isn’t something that just happens to you. Ignorance comes from the verb to ignore: to intentionally not listen or give attention.

Ignorance is intentionally choosing not to want knowledge, understanding, or information about something. Ignorance is looking the other way because something doesn’t fit into your worldview. Ignorance is dangerous because it turns people into liars. Ignorance breeds people that believe in alternative facts. Ignorance makes it okay to build a wall to keep others out. Ignorance supports the Muslim ban.

I’m just so tired of people defending ignorance.

Ignorance should no longer be ignored.
