The truth is, I’ve been trying to write blogs for years. I think I started three different blogs and that is just in the past year. This time I’ve decided to do it differently. I used to get bored and would stop writing, but this time I’m not going to quit! This is the moment you think: Yeah right, whatever. That’s fine, I’m going to make it my life’s goal to prove you wrong. (Isn’t it a great way to start your blog by insulting your readers? I thought so.)
No, let’s be serious. I used to get bored with my blogs, because I used to write about complete nonsense, so this time I’m giving myself certain challenges. I’m not saying that my blog won’t be about complete nonsense now, but at least I will keep writing (nonsense). It’s my goal to write something every weekday. That’s Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This still seems pretty boring, but wait for it…
Every day has a certain theme. MoodyMondays, How-to-Tuesdays, WhateverWednesdays,ThankfulThursdays and Face-off-Fridays. The themes might sound silly right now, but it will all make sense once you keep reading. BTW, this blog isn’t about making sense, it’s about having fun and making people smile. (That sounds cheesy, right?) Ooh, before I forget, the themes might change over time. There’s always the possibility I get this OMG-moment and think of this amazing new theme I just have to share with you. (Assuming there are actually people reading this blog ofcourse.)
Okay, so before I start my first weekday post, let me tell you some things about myself. First of all, I’m not a native English speaker so sorry for any grammatically incorrect sentences. But I mean, at least I speak a second language… So just deal with it! Side note: To all you people out there who do speak a second language and who are so f*cking perfect they never make mistakes. I’m so sorry for my incompetence.
What is my first language? It’s Dutch. I’m from the Netherlands, and no I’ve never done drugs. So why don’t I write this blog in Dutch? It’s very simple math. Only 0,32% of the world’s population speaks Dutch. And 97% of this 0,32% speaks English. Are you still with me? It basically means that 97% of the people that speak Dutch also speak English. In the end it is all about readers. If I write in English more people across the world can read my blog and I’m egocentric, so I want a lot of readers. So f*ck it!
(I usually don’t swear this much, but that’s just how people talk on the internet. I just want to belong. F*ck, f*ck, f*ck. Do you like me yet?)
And another reason I write this blog in English? Both my parents are part of the 3% that don’t speak English. Which means they have no idea what I’m writing here.
I still haven’t told you anything about myself have I? I mean you know I’m Dutch, you know I have never done drugs and that’s it. So let me be a bit more informative. My name is Charlotte (well, to be honest, it’s Lotte. But Lotte’s corner just didn’t sound right). I’m 20 years old and a student at the university of Leiden. (It’s in the Netherlands, look it up. I mean that’s what Google is for.) At Leiden I’m studying Film and Literary Sciences, which in no way means I know what I’m talking about when I’m discussing books or movies.
This post is getting way longer than I anticipated. (I was really debating whether it’s than or then in this sentence, but I feel confident about my final decision.) I’m so sorry. Let me wrap it up. I love writing and being creative. This blog is just my way of getting rid of all my useless creativity.
Who knows, maybe this blog may actually become a success (or maybe I’m just this pathetic girl, alone in her room, writing the dumbest stories).
